Eco-Economy Insider participates in affiliate programs. This means that if you click a link to a product on this site and make a purchase, I may earn a commission. It costs you nothing extra.

I want to be straightforward about how this works in practice, because I think most affiliate disclosure pages are written to technically satisfy a legal requirement while telling you as little as possible. So here’s what I actually think matters:

I did not build this site to sell you things. My honest view, which you’ll see repeated throughout this site, is that the most climate-friendly choice is usually to not buy something new at all. If you already own something that works, keep it. If you can find what you need secondhand, do that. If you do need to buy new, try to buy something durable that doesn’t require a lot of consumables over time.

Sometimes buying something new does make sense, and when it does, I try to point people toward options that have real environmental merit. I review products I’ve actually used or researched seriously. I don’t accept payment to recommend something, I don’t let brands write or substantially edit what I publish, and I don’t link to products just because they offer a high commission rate.

When I’m skeptical about a product claim, I’ll say so. When I think the “eco-friendly” label is doing more marketing work than the product deserves, I’ll say that too. My goal is to be someone you can trust to give you the honest version, not the version that’s optimized for clicks.

If you have questions about any specific product recommendation or partnership, you can leave a comment and I will respond.
